ST Segment Depression not suggestive of Ischaemia
What Is It?
Non-specific ST segment depression are those which are not associated with any or all of the following conditions: ischaemia, injury, myocardial infarction (heart attack), IVCD. This is generally considered as a normal, if uncommon, variant of a heartbeat’s shape.
Additional Information
Non-specific ST segment depression can be caused by poor electrode contact, atrial repolarisation or hyperventilation. It is often characterised as ‘horizontal’, ‘upsloping’ or ‘downsloping’.
Treatment Options
Generally no treatment is required. However, it is recommended that you monitor your heart rate on a regular basis so that any increase in episodes of non-specific ST segment depression can be discussed with your doctor thus allowing prompt and appropriate treatment if necessary.
