Non-Synchronisation Due To IVCD

What Is It?

IIVCD stands for Intraventricular Conduction Delay and is a generic abbreviation for wide QRS morphologies. Among other conditions, IVCD include bundle branch blocks and Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.

Additional Information

Bundle branch block is a condition in which the electrical impulses are slowed or blocked from travelling through the heart and into the ventricles. This condition tends to produce no symptoms, although some people may be breathless, faint or dizzy. Wolff- Parkinson-White syndrome is a condition in which there is an extra (abnormal) electrical pathway in the heart that can cause an arrhythmia (irregular heart beat). This condition is believed to be present at birth.

Treatment Options

With Bundle branch block, the heart beat may be so slow that an artificial pacemaker is fitted even if the heart is otherwise healthy. With most cases of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, no treatment is required. However, for those people that experience unwanted symptoms such as chest pain and fainting, a procedure may be required rather than prescribed medication. An energy source such as radiofrequency can be used to “burn” the abnormal wiring causing the problem.
