Infrequent Ventricular Ectopics
What Is It?
On average a rate of less than one heart beat originating from the ventricles every two minutes. Ventricular Ectopics are common in healthy people and may be associated with intake of caffeine and alcohol etc.
Additional Information
The vast majority of Ventricular Ectopics have no symptoms. However, some people may feel a skipped heartbeat or palpitations. In general VE’s are harmless.
Treatment Options
In some cases beta blockers may be useful. Other people may just need to limit or eliminate their intake of caffeine. These can nonetheless prove troublesome, despite assurances, after appropriate investigation, that there is no serious abnormality.
