Arrests
What is it?
Significant delays (greater than 3 seconds) in between heart beats.
Additional Information
Otherwise known as “Arrest”, is when the heart stops beating abruptly. An arrest is NOT the same as a heart attack. If the period of arrest is a lengthy one, there will be feelings of faintness or even loss of consciousness. Often the heart then starts what is known as an escape rhythm which will at least keep the heart pumping until the heart recovers itself or treatment is given. Unfortunately an arrest can end in death.
Treatment Options
Treatment depends on the nature and severity of the arrest.
