Appropriate Tachycardia
What Is It?
A fast heart rate of normal origin lasting more than 30 seconds between 120 and 180 beats per minute.
Additional Information
Episodes of appropriate Tachycardia may be triggered by physical or emotional stress, caffeine and certain medications. Causes of tachycardia include excessive exercise, anxiety, stress, fear, intake of caffeine, nicotine or alcohol. Other causes are an overactive thyroid, anaemia and fever.
Treatment Options
Generally no treatment is required. However, it is recommended that you monitor your heart rate on a regular basis.
