Appropriate Bradycardia

What Is It?

A slow heart rate of more than 30 seconds duration between 40 and 50 beats per minute. Appropriate Bradycardia is normally associated with periods of resting and sleeping.

Additional Information

An unusually slow heart beat due to normal causes (e.g. deep relaxation or excellent fitness) is called Sinus Bradycardia. This tends to be present in atheletes or as a reaction to a variety of different medications such as beta blockers.

Treatment Options

Generally no treatment is required. However, it is recommended that you monitor your heart rate on a regular basis.
