What exactly is the MHM 100 and Medick Personal Heart Reporting Service?

The MHM 100 is a personal ECG monitor which gives up to an 8 hour reading and acts as a first-screen to help detect heart irregularities at an early stage. It uses a clinically proven system of detection called neural network technology and is an EU approved Medical Device.

A neural network mimics the way the human nervous system processes information and so is able to recognise a variety of patterns. Neural computers are able to learn and adapt by example and do not rely on rigid rules imposed by a programmer. It is particularly useful for ECG monitoring as ECGs differ widely between people and even during the day in the same person, and so there is no one ‘pattern’ that can be programmed in. They are also quick, compact and are not disrupted by background noise. Furthermore, instruments built upon neural network technology are approved, reliable and widely used worldwide.

The user transfers the report that is generated from the ECG monitor to a private section on this website. This is then accessed and interpreted by qualified consultant physicians trained and experienced in reading ECGs. All ECG reports are overviewed by Quintiles, the world’s leading clinical research organisation that has the 3rd largest ECG reporting core lab in the world. For more information visit www.quintiles.com. Each and every ECG report is examined by a qualified consultant physician trained and experienced in reading ECGs. An overview report, which is colour-coded according to the results of the ECG, is returned to the user via a private area of this website. The user is informed by email when the report is available for viewing.

The aim of the Medick Personal Heart Reporting Service is to enable people to understand how their heart is performing and to facilitate early detection of potentially damaging changes. However whenever a suspicious condition is found, the Medick Personal Heart Reporting Service will always refer the user to their own doctor to discuss the findings and take appropriate action.

Healthantec Ltd acts responsibly by not allowing the MHM 100 device to be purchased by the general public without subscription to the Medick Personal Heart Reporting Service. This annual subscription allows for a minimum of 6 expert reports per year, rising to 48 when sharing the device with friends and family. The key reason for this is that we are fully aware that few MHM 100 users will be able to understand the ECG report without professional interpretation. Over time, however, and with the support of this website, frequent MHM 100 users will become familiar with the reports and their own ECG trace. This will enable them to monitor their heart on a regular basis and improve their lifestyle.

What exactly does the user receive from the Medick Personal Heart Reporting Service?

The user will receive their own personal ECG overview report which has been interpreted by a qualified consultant physician trained and experienced in reading ECGs. All ECG reports are overviewed by Quintiles, the world’s leading clinical research organisation that has the 3rd largest ECG reporting core lab in the world. For more information visit www.quintiles.com.

They will receive this interpretation colour coded according to a ‘traffic light system’; hence they will receive a green/amber/red overview report based on the results that have been found.

A minority of users will receive blue or pink reports. Please click here to learn more about blue

and pink reports.

Users can also get pink or blue reports – what do these mean?

Occasionally, the user receives a pink report which means that they belong to the small percentage of the population whose heartbeat is not suitable for analysis by the MHM 100. This does not necessarily mean the absence of a heart condition and we would always recommend that the user makes an appointment with their GP if they are experiencing sustained or increasing levels of discomfort. Please click here to view a pink report.

A user may also get a blue report which means that there has been an operational problem with the device such as poor skin preparation or incorrect positioning of electrodes, and we will seek to rectify this directly with the user through our Customer Care team. Please click here to view a blue report.

Does the MHM 100 device work in the same way as the ECG monitors developed for healthcare professionals?

Yes. It is a fully functioning cardiac monitor based upon the same intelligent technology as the healthcare professional’s version. We are already seeing blood pressure monitors supplied for home use and these work just as well as the monitors used by the professionals. We want to achieve the same for heart monitoring and in doing so, help people stay healthy.

Who are these ‘physicians specialising in the reading of ambulatory ECGs’ that are interpreting the reports?

Medick uses Quintiles Transnational, the world's largest contract research organisation, which has a dedicated ECG reporting unit. Our contract with Quintiles specifies the qualifications of each physician involved in reading and categorising our reports. Only doctors with ECG expertise are used.
